Sumus Italia has developed and patented additional products for agricultural operators, including a recycled paper sheet for active mulching of soil.
The sheet is enriched with natural tannins: this makes the mulching ‘active’, as tannins inhibit the growth of molds and fungi. This eliminates the need for synthetic fungicides and mold inhibitors.
The sheet is naturally treated to be nearly water-repellent. In addition to ensuring reduced presence of invasive alien species in the field, it protects the soil from thermal fluctuations, ensuring a safer and more productive crop cycle. The paper’s evapotranspiration capabilities reduce local rotting in contact areas of products touching the soil, improving economic yield. The Sumus® sheet is compatible with bio farming and can be tilled into the soil (without removal and disposal), reducing time, effort, and plastic emissions into the environment.
