Sumus Italia Srl was founded in 2013.
Some of its founders had already been involved in the first business initiative since 2005, always looking for new solutions for the collection of organic waste with recycled paper bags.
The Galliera Paper Mill and Lineapack srl of Chinello (inventor of the patented solution) hold the majority of the company and provide the raw material (100% recycled paper from separate collection) and the production of paperbags.
Sumus paperbags are used for the collection of organic (from 7 to 360 liters) or paper (from 30 to 120 liters).
The paperbags from 7 to 20 liters for organic are covered by world patent.
Sumus Italia has developed and recently patented worldwide the first sheet of recycled paper for active mulching. Thanks to natural substances, the upper page prevents light from passing through the paper, the lower one prevents the growth of weeds and counteracts the development of fungi and mold.

It increases the quality of the organic and paper collected, increases the amount of organic and differentiated paper, decreases the distribution of bags for organic and paper waste collection, decreases the weight of the organic fraction thanks to transpiration.
Fewer bags are used, the weight of the waste is reduced, the volume of the bags is exploited to the fullest (the organic is naturally compacted by reducing its volume up to 50%), bad smells are not produced, sewage is not dispersed, there is no there are bag…

The municipality of Bolzano has been using Sumus bags for the collection of OFMSW (organic fraction of solid urban waste) since 2008. The efficiency of the system has progressively grown with a significant reduction in costs that has affected all the players in the supply chain (municipality, operator, plant and citizens).
In fact, in the face of a constant increase in the quantity of organic waste conferred in the period 2009-2014, the Tariff underwent two significant decreases: in 2015 (- 11%) and in 2016 (-5%). Furthermore, the city of Bolzano has gone from a supply of 6 million bags in the period 2008-2014 to one of 5 million since 2015 without introducing replacement bags, despite the fact that the separate collection service has also been extended to the historic center of the city: system efficiency leads to lower consumption and purchases (and reduces costs for the municipality and for the citizen).
